People Solutions Specialist

Role Responsibilities

  •  Prepare and process salaried payroll to including bonuses, rate changes, deductions and CBA compensation requirements (including time off pay/balances)
  • Manage/maintain timekeeping systems and timesheets; review and ensure accuracy
  • Overall absenteeism management
  • Manage the case management system to assign and complete cases in a timely way
  • Manage human resources processes and transactions, solving a range of problems and analyzing possible solutions using standard operating procedures and judgment
  • Facilitate and implementation of new training, development, recruiting, on-boarding and other related initiatives
  • Manage offboarding activities including preparing documents for severed employees, managing unemployment claims, pension-related activities
  • Provide support and guidance to managers and employees regarding employee relations and general inquiries
  • Support with implementing and administering contractual agreement (CBA), employee policies and benefits
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Manage data changes within the defined service level agreements on cases involving data changes, terminations, hires, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Collaborate with HRIS Analysts to validate reports and maintain data integrity
  • Perform testing on system changes at the direction of the HRIS team
  • Contribute to the implementation of projects as a subject matter expert for HR
  • Participate in data collection to generate monthly reports
  • Manage documents in employee personnel records
  • Administer and reconcile invoices for HR-related invoices
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Support core HR processes by performing all other assigned People Solutions activities correctly, with timeliness and efficiency
  • Work successfully with a moderate level of guidance and direction
  • Ability to travel to the Toronto office on occasion to provide support and visibility
  • Ad hoc report generation  

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related subjects.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in an HR Generalist role
  • Knowledge of Labor Laws as they pertain to union and non-union environments
  • Must be able to professionally manage confidential information
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and establish priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to providing exceptional service to clients within the business
  • Experience working with a case management system is desired, but not required
  • Experience with SuccessFactors or other similar systems for maintaining employee data
  • Experience with applicant tracking and T&A management system is desired
  • Experience with payroll processes and benefits administration
