Role Responsibilities
Direct the operations of the Cruzan Rum Distillery, consisting of the complete distillation, processing, aging, packaging and distribution of distilled spirits, and ensuring that the facility is managed safely, effectively & efficiently, within cost expectations and leadership and direction of senior management personnel in the distilling operations, plant engineering, quality control, warehousing, accounting, marketing and human resources.
- Operate the facility within planned volumes, schedules and costs, through the effective management of assets, people and inputs. Set budget parameters and monitor/control production costs. Maintain and enhance the profitability of the operations
- Follow and enforce company policy as directed, and develop and enforce local plant policies as needed
- Set, monitor and analyze performance of entire plant to established targets and measures. Provide and report performance and other appropriate information to Vice President, North American Supply Chain & Global Procurement regarding plant activities
- Ensure that the Distillery operates in compliance with all governing regulatory agencies
- Negotiate with the local bargaining unit at the Collective Bargaining sessions and ensure compliance with all collective bargaining agreements
- Continuous assessment and evaluation of operations for improvement in efficiencies. Develop and implement process and procedures to reduce cost, improve quality, improve safety, and increase production.
- Effectively liaise operations with other Beam Suntory functions and groups, including global procurement, finance, Marketing and US Commercial sales.
- Promote and uphold positive public image by communicating and working with external government agencies and community members
- Develop managers' skills and potential by planning for succession and progression of employees in their jobs.
- Effectively utilize capital budgets when assessing and purchasing of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Adheres to and promotes quality, environmental, health and safety as one of the organization’s business priorities
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, Operations Management or related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of operations management experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience working with unions
- Working knowledge plant manufacturing systems and processes
- Administrative knowledge regarding budgets, data collection and equipment analysis
- Analytical ability, including knowledge to interpret technical, financial, and legal documents
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to effectively handle stress and crisis situations
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact well with corporate executives
