Role Responsibilities
To support our sustainability goals, Beam Suntory is hiring a team of environmental and sustainability professionals. The Logistics Sustainability Manager will be a member of the global environmental & sustainability team but report into the Global Logistics Function. This role will have a key focus on the needs of the Beam Suntory Global Logistics Team and help develop and execute the Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy.
- Contribute to and deliver the International Supply Chain Sustainability strategy bringing strategy to life and delivering the key projects that will drive us towards our sustainability targets.
- Ability to bring our Sustainability agenda to life with our key suppliers and customers and actively engage with them to align our needs with their sustainability agenda.
- Represent Beam Suntory in meetings with external partners, bringing a solid understanding of customer needs related to environment and sustainability.
- Compile required information and make strategic inferences from various sources including Commercial, Global Sustainability, Marketing, Operating Units, Procurement and the customer when dealing with in bound queries (such as carbon & waste reduction throughout supply chain including logistics, GS1 requirements, ethical standards and practices relating to procurement) from retailers and our internal stakeholders.
- Participate in and oversee Innovation projects (Seed to Sip) to bring a sustainability lens, particularly on carbon reduction, environmental and packaging waste.
- Serve as project manager for Global supply chain sustainability programme execution, in partnership with established PMO.
- Serve as North American supply chain subject matter expert in Environment, Sustainability and ESG reporting for the BSI Nature Pillar: water, CO2, farm, field and packaging.
- Develop and implement plan for collecting, storing, validating and distributing Sustainability & ESG data and content for reporting and responding to requests from key stakeholders.
- Partner with relevant functions and teams to establish process, rhythm and communication methods for data and content coordination, as well as for other key projects and programs.
- Complete internal and external reports as required.
- Work consistently and effectively with stakeholders across the enterprise, including Supply Chain, R&D, Brand House/Commercial, Finance, Legal, IT, HR, Diversity & Inclusion, Communications and others on Sustainability & ESG strategy, projects and actions.
- Coordinate and support environmental & sustainability communications with Corporate Communications… to ensure alignment with BSI and Suntory Sustainability Strategies.
- Engage directly with a variety of stakeholders, including third-party auditors, on increasing expectations and trends for material data disclosure, data tracking, reporting and transparency.
- Maintain awareness of global Sustainability & ESG trends and tools, metrics and KPIs and share updates and implications with broader Sustainability & ESG team and beyond.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management or related programme is preferred. Professional experience working in the areas of Environment, Sustainability and/or Corporate Social Responsibility may substitute for educational background and requirements.
- 3-5 years of experience managing environmental and sustainability needs for customers in the food and beverage industry. Experience in the beverage alcohol business is desired.
- Must be fluent in English; second language is a plus but not required. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written, and explain technical concepts or innovations to technical and non-technical employees.
- Must be proficient with project management methodology (Preferably APM, Prince 2 or agile) and have demonstratable ability to coordinate multiple tasks among different business functions and departments.
- Advanced computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, online meeting software, web based KPI reporting software) and expert PowerPoint presentation development and delivery.
- Familiarity with Sustainability issues and trends and a working knowledge of leading ESG frameworks (SASB, TCFD, CDP, etc.) and ESG rating organisations ranking schemes.
- External sustainability reporting experience (larger retailers & country-specific requirements), with a successful track record of helping to build strategies and improve scores/rankings.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to adapt to different formats (press releases, annual reports, website, etc.).
- Comfortable working in a new department amidst ambiguity and transformational change.
- All applicants must have legal authorisation to work in the country in which the manufacturing site is located. The candidate must be able to travel to (and throughout) countries in which BSI has manufacturing locations (travel <25%).
