Role Responsibilities

Region of Role: Control States – Northeast (NH, ME, VT, MI, & WV)


  • Responsible for all Beam Suntory category management activity that occurs in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, West Virginia, & Michigan.
    • Strategy – deliver Category and Consumer Insights to assist key retailers, state agencies, and distributor partner category employees with developing or reinforcing spirits category strategy and supporting pillars.
    • Analytics – provide analytical support around distribution opportunities and merchandising effectiveness; develop and lead external reporting deliverables; proactively serve as a diagnostician for business issues and opportunities.
    • Space Planning – support annual production of the PLCB store specific planograms; draw planograms when requested by partner states / retailers to accurately reflect strategy while optimizing national and regional assortment utilizing data and insights.
    • All of this will be done to add expertise by helping the retailers / states realize their objectives in the areas of category planning, assortment, merchandising, & promotion.
  • The role will also provide internal support to the Beam Suntory states’ sales teams and our broker teams via analysis; presentation development associated with ad-hoc meetings, selling presentations, broker meetings, and quarterly business reviews; and translation of research and insights into actionable, impactful execution recommendations.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in category management or associated work experience.
  • Knowledge of Space Management, Spectra, data management software / applications, and CatMan Best Practices.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Category Management/Advisor experience drawing planograms, demonstrating strong proficiency with JDA software for space planning
  • Self-starter with ability to identify, create, and lead projects
  • Exceptional technical, analytical, problem solving, and oral/written communication skills
  • Advanced PC skills required, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software desired
  • Knowledge of NABCA DIVER data (preferred) or other syndicated data platform (Nielsen, IRI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with assortment analysis, shelf strategy, schematic creation
  • Adept at working within cross-functional environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Ability to sit for prolonged period(s) of time and view computer screen
  • Travel less than 25% of time
