Maturing Special Projects Lead

As part of the Brand House structure, JBBDCo. Operations is an area of strategic growth. This position reports into the Director, JBBDCo. Maturation and is instrumental to the company’s current and future success.
The Maturing Special Projects Lead has accountability for understanding multiple aspects of the barrel warehousing operation, aged liquid planning, liquid quality & blending, and financials to successfully lead special project in the area. Projects can range from barrel and liquid movements, process and quality improvements, cost saving opportunities, and identifying projects that would eventually reduce variability in the maturation process. The position will utilize lean six sigma methodologies to support creation of process maps and building a strong loss and waste analysis. This position will also support, facilitate, and help coach through the implementation of operational excellence practices.
Role Responsibilities
Primary focus areas include:
• Responsible for executing strategic projects in the maturation department
• Partner with the barrel warehouse operation team from the Clermont, Booker Noe, and Frankfort locations to support any special projects
• Partner with the maturing blending team to support any special projects related to barrel allocations
• Partner with the liquid planning manager to identify opportunities in aging inventory
• Partner with special operations manager to support development of projects
• Partner with the finance partners to support the creation of loss & waste models in the maturing area
• Facilitate training and coaching for the barrel warehouse operation teams through operational excellence platform (TRACC)
• Provide leadership in the implementation of operational excellence (TRACC)
• Support data collection and analytics
• Support improvement projects related to barrel liquid recovery
• Partner with global liquid quality team to implement any corporate requirements
• Build network relationships based on respect and trust.
• Support and nurture high levels of employee engagement.
• Champion a culture of transparent reporting and decision-making.
• Comply with all legal requirements and ethical standards relating to the management of people, assets, suppliers and third parties.
Qualifications & Experience
Education- Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering, Data Analytics, or technical degree or similar preferred.
Lean six sigma certification, green belt or black belt.
Post-graduate degree is a plus (MBA).
Years of experience – 5 - 10 years in operational or operational excellence roles with increasing responsibility.
Level and type of experience:
• Experienced in operational excellence programs (Lean, six sigma, TPM)
• Data analytics
• Flexibility to work in a high-change environment
• Ability to manage cross-functional workflow on multiple projects simultaneously
Industry experience - Prefer a background in a World Class Company (Distilling Industry, Chemical, Pharma, CPG, automotive)
Travel 5 % - Role based in Clermont, Kentucky. Travel will be required to other sites within Kentucky as well as occasional travel regionally or internationally as needed.
Additional Competencies:
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft. Experience with ERP systems (SAP)
• General understanding of spirits industry.
• Ability to work independently in leading plan development and execution of short and long-term tasks.
• Ability to develop strong cross functional relationships within Operations as well as with R&D, Marketing, Sourcing, Engineering, etc. to drive strong collaboration and results.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including timely follow-up and commitment to deliverables, and openness to give and receive feedback.
• Must be able to consume limited quantities of alcoholic beverage samples in accordance with evaluation/research needs.
• Self-starter, flexible, comfortable working in unstructured face-paced environment, able to manage multiple priorities effortlessly.
• Team player with collaborative style and strong listening and partnering skills. Culturally sensitive, with ability to work in a global multicultural cross
functional organization, requiring ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones to accommodate global responsibilities.
