The OU Engineering Director contributes to the success of overall OU operations by guiding, developing, and managing all engineering, health and safety, environmental compliance, sustainability, and security work in collaboration with other OU departments. Focus areas include ensuring safety, quality, and fiscal stewardship foundations, improving overall equipment reliability and performance, supporting innovation, and capacity optimization. This leader will scope, coordinate, develop project plans & documentation for approval, and execute capital and major maintenance projects. They will act as a technical resource for the plant and will support & drive continuous improvement by empowering employees to meet the production requirements daily across a high-volume plant. The OU Engineering Director will implement and execute a strategy of continual improvement aligned with TRACC methodology. The Director has accountability for providing a safe environment which produces the highest quality products while improving employee engagement and operational efficiencies.
This role spans several production facilities including distillation, maturation, and bottling operations and supports innovation and visitor center activity including special events.
Role Responsibilities
Provide leadership to engineering and EH&S departments to deliver plant performance goals through those organizations.
Investigate, scope, budget and recommend projects for inclusion in the plant’s multi-year capital & major maintenance plans to include innovation and visitor center investments.
Develop and administer capital forecast and budget in collaboration with OU Finance Business Partner, including the preparation and/or review of concepts, scope, submission of capital authorization requests, timely coordination and/or implementation of projects and cost control.
Coach and develop professionals supporting the OU Health & Safety, Environmental Compliance, Security, and Sustainability programs to deliver industry leading performance in these areas.
Develop and control departmental operating budget.
Work with OU leadership team to develop, prioritize, and implement strategic capital projects.
Act as plant’s technical resource.
Ensure all projects meet expectations and improve outcomes for safety, quality, and the environment.
Develop, train, and direct engineering personnel to ensure the achievement of the present and future operating goals including the digitalization of the manufacturing operations.
Promote, enforce, and adhere to Safety, Quality, Fiscal Controls, and other manufacturing standards.
Qualifications
10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience including technical, EH&S, and capital project management responsibilities.
Experience managing large capital projects, applying a disciplined approach to successfully deliver scope, cost, and schedule while managing risk and communication through project phases.
Strong analytical ability, including knowledge to interpret engineering and other technical documents
Demonstrated leadership skills, including previous experience in a management or supervisory role leading people to deliver stretching objectives.
Demonstrated experience implementing and executing continuous improvement tools.
Demonstrated technical and non-technical problem-solving skills.
Good working knowledge of environmental regulations as they pertain to plant operations.
Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
Familiarity with process and packaging equipment including controls and management systems.
Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Daily work location is on-site in the OU. Travel limited to about 10% of time.
