Systems & Data Analytics Specialist - R&D

Role Responsibilities

  • As part of the R&D Systems & Pipeline Analytics Team, this position will be responsible for the development and analysis of commercialization pipeline analytics as well as the internal R&D productivity analytics.
  • Partnering with the Systems team and Portfolio Manager, this role will continue to develop new ways to measure, visualize, and analyze pipeline data. This data will be critical to decision making across the organization including in executive leadership pipeline reviews, brand house & regional leadership team reviews, and S&OP portfolio reviews.
  • In collaboration with the R&D Leadership Team, the analytics specialist will develop and provide key metrics for the organization to measure effectiveness. Working closely with leadership, this position will bring insight into organizational capacity, headcount requirements, recommended personnel locations and experience levels.
  • This position requires a highly organized, analytical thinker who can manage and prioritize short- and long-term initiatives including those of a confidential nature.

 

 

  • Creates and presents monthly, quarterly, and annual R&D productivity metrics to the R&D sub-teams. Works with each R&D sub-team to build out the data collection methodology, suite of KPIs, and visualizations to support each sub-teams specific needs.
  • Creates presentations monthly and quarterly for commercialization pipeline reviews including for Brand House leadership team meetings, Stage Gate meetings, and Executive Gate meetings.
  • Creates an in-depth analysis of the pipeline including financial information, competitive external benchmarks, and process data bi-annually for an Executive Leadership Team presentation.
  • Analyzes the data for these forums to provide the “so what” or insights that can be gleaned by in depth trend analysis.
  • Looks at the pipeline holistically to help capture risks, strengths, and opportunities
  • Interprets asks of cross-functional teams to determine what data they need, how to create it in a consumable format and builds custom reports
  • Works closely with systems team to build out new reporting capabilities in R&D systems
  • Works with R&D Leadership on confidential staffing projects to provide guidance on staffing levels and locations
  • Works with Continuous Improvement team to proactively find areas to increase efficiency, reduce speed to market, or reduce complexity

 

Qualifications & Experience

Education- Bachelor’s degree

Certifications/Licensure- Six Sigma or Analytical Certifications strongly desired, must be highly proficient with Excel and Powerpoint. Power BI, Tableau, or Minitab a plus

Years of experience- Minimum 2 years experience working in an analytics role

Level of experience-

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, understand, analyze, and report on data including insights and trends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including timely follow-up and commitment to deliverables, and openness to give and receive feedback.
  • Highly proficient with Excel, Powerpoint, and other analytics software    
  • Team player with collaborative style and strong listening and partnering skills.  Culturally sensitive, with ability to work in a global multicultural cross functional organization. Able to build strong relationships especially with higher level leaders.
  • Effectively deals with ambiguity in an unstructured face-paced environment, able to manage multiple priorities effortlessly
  • Desire to help build and maintain a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture within Global R&D and broader Beam Suntory. 
  • Travel %- 5-10% within the United States
