Role Responsibilities

The Manager, North America Insights will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of brands in the United States (the iconic Maker’s Mark Bourbon as well as a portfolio of premium Tequilas).  The incumbent will report to the Director, Insights – North America and be responsible for identifying, developing and integrating insights throughout the business unit to drive to marketplace success.  This role will be a strategic partner (who will collaborate with North America marketing to drive consumer-centric decision making in planning and developing the regional brand and portfolio strategy in North America) as well as a diagnostic partner (leveraging fact-based inputs to diagnose business performance for brands).  While having point accountability for custom market research, the incumbent must also draw from a variety of information sources and internal resources to develop insights focusing on local market understanding and cultural sensitivity and insights.  This role will also collaborate closely with Global Insights partners (representing the U.S. market) on foundational work for this portfolio of brands.


Qualifications & Experience


  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and creative insight, coupled with a drive for actionable, tangible results
  • Works effectively with a cross functional team, agency and suppliers
  • Highly adaptable, works well in a fast paced, unstructured entrepreneurial environment
  • High level of accountability, flexibility and self-direction to work autonomously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experienced and comfortable communicating with senior-level leaders
  • Successfully influence cross-functional team members and high levels of the organization, even with limited authority
  • Skilled in balancing multiple projects within timelines and budget requirements
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative custom research projects throughout all stages including design, execution, analysis and recommendation
  • Resourceful and fiscally-minded to leverage previous custom research and other internal resources to inform POV on brand/portfolio strategy and guide business decisions
  • Experience with syndicated sources (e.g. Nielsen, IRI, Panel data, MRI etc.) and ability to generate category, brand, and shopper insights to form recommendations
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and extract meaningful insights from data (comfort in excel, data visualization, pivot tables, significance testing) 
  • Ensures business decisions are grounded in consumer/shopper understanding and brand building fundamentals



  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree required – Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of custom insight/research experience
  • Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and suppliers with a broad range of research techniques
  • Experience leading custom research across a variety of methodologies and business applications
  • Experience with multicultural foundational research a plus
  • Experience with Qualtrics, Toluna, or other DIY platform a plus
