The Beam Suntory NA Media team serves as an internal center of excellence as subject matter experts for paid media advertising across the portfolio of brands including Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, and Hornitos.  The team’s mission is to provide deep knowledge and connection to our brands and business, oversee flawlessly executed media deployment, bring outside-in thinking to future-proof our marketing efforts, use data to measure media effectiveness and inform smart decision making, and maintain critical media agency and partner management.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

The Media Manager, is a critical member of this growing team working with the brands, media agency, cross-functional peers, and marketplace to steward media investment across the portfolio:

  • Lead full funnel media planning process from strategy to execution and oversee day-to-day media management for assigned brands within the portfolio in partnership with the media agency and relevant Brand Houses, with an emphasis on advancing digital, social, and eCommerce within brand-specific media plans 
  • Build influential relationships with internal NA and Global Marketing teams, serving as an in-house resource for media expertise
  • Define and operationalize best practices in media planning, build new capabilities, and instill into brand planning with goal of driving ROI, brand equity, and digitally influenced sales
  • Provide strategic leadership for building best-in-class media partnerships, custom content, and innovative creative solutions with a focus on establishing “what good looks like,” creating process playbooks, and standardizing measurement across the portfolio
  • Pioneer data-driven marketing best practices and partner with media agency to develop tools and planning process that uses data to inform specific brand digital strategy and activate campaigns
  • Foster an ongoing spirit of curiosity for consumer & industry trendspotting to continually evolve the BSI approach to media to align with consumer needs/expectations along with media or technology advancements 
  • Stay up to date on advancements in the digital media space (i.e. programmatic media buying, targeting/segmentation and attribution modeling, etc.), tracking emerging trends and solutions and continually pushing for application to the BSI business 
  • Help lead the team’s efforts to build internal media acumen, education, and inspiration to increase organizational media and landscape familiarity
  • Passionately pursue advancements within the portfolio’s multicultural media strategy with an emphasis on increasing representation within plans as well specific in-language and in-culture strategies and executions
     

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in media/agency roles with strong expertise and familiarity across all media channels – TV, Advanced TV solutions, Publishing, Search, Display, Online Video, Mobile, Social, etc.
  • Understanding of the broader media strategy discipline, including touchpoint mix/prioritization, buying efficiency, effectiveness in execution, and agency relationships
  • Strong quantitative skills required to analyze and optimize campaign performance with deep understanding of key digital marketing metrics and familiarity with media measurement and verification partners (i.e. Moat, IRI, Market Mix Modeling, etc.)
  • Premium goods and/or challenger brand experience a plus (but not required)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to set deadlines, track progress, manage up/down and expertly leverage tools like PowerPoint and Excel to support daily work
  • Proven track record of leading with influence, working in a highly matrixed environment and stewarding cross-functional teams to deliver business impact
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity; the individual must be comfortable in situations where answers are not always obvious and sometimes require open-ended analyses + critical thinking to produce a business recommendation
  • Self-starter, with a passion to challenge the status quo, curiosity, desire, and ability to think beyond surface level, and dive deeper into media and consumer trends
  • Team player who is flexible and adaptable in their approach
  • Ability to work successfully with teams and independently on multiple projects under tight deadlines with limited supervision
