Brand Manager, Maker's Mark - Control

This position will be based out of the Beam Suntory Chicago office. Highlights include:

  • The spirits industry is an exciting, dynamic, and fast-paced business.  Beam Suntory is a top player in the spirits business and is focused on driving both category and brand growth. 
  • Serve as critical in-market liaison to facilitate communication, planning, and execution between the National Marketing team and the Control Region team.
  • Ownership of key regional projects, with the autonomy to drive decisions.
  • Opportunity to provide regional category expertise, create regional brand strategy and provide input into the national brand strategy.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the regional marketing strategy on the Maker’s Mark portfolio, delivering against market plans, KPIs, brand health and volume/sales/profit growth objectives each year. 
  • Lead regional planning and work with markets on specific needs.
  • Set and implement regional brand strategy in conjunction with cross-functional groups (Sales, Commercial Marketing, Finance, Consumer Insights, etc.)
  • Liaise with National Brand Team and Commercial Marketing on gaps in Global plan to drive Maker’s Mark in the Control Region.  
  • Responsibility to lead cross-functional teams and external agencies to develop regional brand plans, driving a key strategic priority for Beam Suntory: localization to be brand led, market fed.
  • Work with many stakeholders across the organization: distillery, sales, finance, marketing, and eCommerce. 
  • Lead, inspire and motivate a team of 3

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4 – 6 years consumer marketing experience
  • MBA preferred
  • Proven ability to execute flawlessly on brand/marketing projects that align with overall Brand strategy
  • Self-starter with an ability to deal with ambiguity in a new strategic role within the organization
  • Experience repositioning of brands locally
  • Experience working in or with commercial sales or field marketing is a plus
  • Multicultural marketing experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in working across and up, within the organization, gaining credibility amongst peers, Managers and other commercial leadership
  • Experience with beverage alcohol industry and/or three-tiered distribution system a plus (soft drinks, beer, and other wholesale-distributed products)
  • Flawless communication skills in writing, meetings, and presentations
  • Demonstrated personal characteristics to be brand evangelist to local teams
  • Travel 20-25% (primarily domestic)
