The Beam Suntory NA Media team serves as an internal center of excellence as subject matter experts for paid media advertising across the portfolio of brands including Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Hornitos, Courvoisier and Basil Hayden’s. The team’s mission is to provide deep knowledge and connection to our brands and business, oversee flawlessly executed media deployment, bring outside-in thinking to future-proof our marketing efforts, use data to measure media effectiveness and inform smart decision making, and maintain critical media agency and partner management.

 

Role Responsibilities

The Associate Media Manager is a critical member of this growing team working with the brands, media agency, cross-functional peers, and marketplace to steward media investment across the portfolio.

  • Lead full funnel media planning process from strategy to execution and oversee day-to-day media management for assigned brands within the portfolio in partnership with the media agency and brand marketers, with an emphasis on advancing digital and eCommerce strategy and inclusion in brand-specific plans
  • Build influential relationships with internal NA and Global Marketing teams, serving as an in-house resource for media expertise
  • Advance Local Media capabilities within the Media COE and lead the team’s efforts in advancing regional plans with media; optimize local planning process, identify gaps in national strategies that can be targeted with local media solutions, pull local strategies into execution, work with media agency to identify multi-market solutions for efficiencies.
  • Steward best practices within media planning, taking a data-driven approach and understanding of both media and content’s roles in driving ROI and brand equity
  • Provide strategic leadership on media partnerships for assigned brands, stewarding best practices and mobilizing cross-functional teams and media agency across paid/owned/earned to create and amplify made-for-platform custom content that connect brands into culture.
  • Operationalize data-driven marketing best practices and partner with media agency to leverage performance and measurement data to inform specific brand digital strategy and optimize campaigns.
  • Foster an ongoing spirit of curiosity for consumer & industry trendspotting to continually evolve the BSI media team’s approach to better align with consumer needs/expectations along with the media landscape or technology advancements
  • Oversee agency reporting deliverables, evolving approach as needed to ensure accurate and actionable reporting that enables performance feedback loop and meets the needs of the brands and business.
  • Passionately pursue advancements within the portfolio’s multicultural media strategy with an emphasis on increasing representation within plans as well specific in-language and in-culture strategies and executions

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on media strategy experience in client or agency setting, preferably on national consumer brands or luxury goods or services)
  • Deep media acumen and hands on experience across all media channels – TV, Advanced TV solutions, Publishing, Search, Display, Online Video, Mobile, Social, etc
  • Proven ability to leverage media expertise and consumer/marketplace insight to translate business objectives into media strategy
  • Portfolio management experience: ability to identify opportunities to scale media across brands and markets for added efficiencies.
  • Experience building multicultural media strategies and familiarity with the multicultural media landscape
  • Strong quantitative skills required to analyze and optimize campaign performance with deep understanding of key digital marketing metrics and familiarity with media measurement and verification partners (i.e. Moat, IRI, Market Mix Modeling, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of creative/content best practices within various media channels
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (candidate will develop and maintain key working relationships within the organization that cross over different cross-functional teams within marketing)
  • Demonstrated ability to work and excel in situations where a media strategy is undefined or ambiguous; the individual must be comfortable in situations where answers are not always obvious and sometimes require open-ended analyses + critical thinking to produce a business recommendation
  • Self-starter, passionate to challenge the status quo, curiosity, desire and ability to think beyond surface level, dive deeper into media and consumer trends, and strategic thinking
  • Team player who is flexible and adaptable in their approach
  • Ability to work successfully with teams and independently on multiple projects under tight deadlines with limited supervision
