The IT – Sales & Marketing Architect must be passionate about data, sales and marketing solutions and finding creative ways to solve tough problems. They will be the subject matter expert on Beam Suntory’s Sales & Marketing data and system architecture and work collaboratively across functions, both business and IT, to design and define system architectures and data flows/models.  Additionally, they will aid in gathering business requirements, translating technical design details for non-technical audiences, and overseeing implementations of solutions delivering key capabilities and analytics to the Sales and Marketing stakeholders. Lastly, they will collaborate on and drive strategy and governance of the Sales & Marketing data usage, storage and integrations to ensure alignment with Enterprise Data Architect guidelines


Role Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert on Sales & Marketing data – sources, metrics, data flows and integrations
  • Ongoing analysis of Sales & Marketing business (strategy and trends) to provide thought leadership on creation, usage and stewardship of data and information needs
  • Consult with the Sales & Marketing business teams on data and Solution Needs
  • Serve as a champion of data-driven business solutions, such as predictive analytics, machine learning, image recognition
  • Recommend and oversee implementation of solutions that balance tactical and strategic needs to close the gap between current and future state for data technology and management
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture to define and maintain data governance and architecture strategy and standards, ensuring enterprise data architecture compliance
  • Implement enterprise data requirements as defined by the Enterprise Data Architect that guide governance, data catalog, data integrity, data usage, storage, and integration decisions
  • Evaluate new data sources, availability and quality, and how to incorporate into existing data models
  • Evaluate new sales, marketing and ecommerce solutions to deliver connected consumer experience
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on architecture and design of the Sales & Marketing ecosystem (data/solutions) to:
    • Ensure commitment to architectural and industry best practices
    • Drive maximum business value promoting reusability, self-service, and data science readiness across solutions
    • Enable data engineering and management practices to integrate disparate data and make it available across the enterprise
    • Alignment to Enterprise Architecture guidelines
    • Ensure ecosystem is efficient to maintain and is scalable
  • Create and Maintain architecture assets, including conceptual architecture, system architecture, data flow diagrams and data models
  • Participate in full life-cycle development, from definition, design, testing and implementation
  • Actively coach and guide project teams to resolve design issues encountered during implementation and ensure implementation is consistent with best practices and enterprise architecture standards
  • Collaborate on assessment of technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Build POCs via data modeling to support business use cases
  • Collaborate with development team to turn POCs into stable, production ready models
  • Assist with the automation of key manual business processes related to data and reporting
  • Operational Activities, including:
    • Vendor management (define standards/ways of working, issue identification/resolution, SLAs, ticket management, capability assessment/enhancements, architecture)
    • User support (technical, level 3 and 4, data exploration/extracts, art of possible)
    • Process support (recurring activities, monitoring, troubleshooting, impact assessments




Qualifications & Experience

  • 8-10 years total working experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with data, data warehouses, data modeling, ETL processes and tools, solution architecture and BI tools
  • Technologies: SQL, Cloud Data Platforms (GCP, AWS), Traditional Database (e.g. PostgreSQL) and cloud data warehouse (BigQuery), BI Tools (Tableau, Microstrategy, PowerBI), ETL Tools (Mulesoft, Informatica), ERP system familiarity (SAP), Salesforce.com, Anaplan, website and eCommerce
  • High attention to detail and drive for results
  • Motivated self-starter, with ability to work independently, take initiative and learn new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic business environment
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, with ability to articulate complex processes to individuals of varying technical abilities
  • A proven record of taking complex, large data projects from ideation to implementation
  • Expertise in gathering business requirements, building documentation and delivering solution
  • Strong stakeholder management and interaction experience at different organizational levels
  • Broad background in database and analytics technologies, including relational, NoSQL and MPP systems
  • Deep understanding and application of modern data processing technology stacks
  • Experience working with Cloud Data Platforms, such as GCP/AWS
  • Strong SQL/Advanced SQL knowledge and experience
  • Data Management for reporting and BI
  • Strong understanding of ETL processing with large data stores
  • Background in Data and Solution Architecture Best Practices
